Alina’s Elixir is the place for the uninitiated, the forgotten, the in-between, the liminal, the intimate, the lived & the carried. I’m so happy to have you here ☀️

When I began writing as a kid, I convinced myself that I didn’t really need anybody to read my work and that I wrote for myself and frankly, that delusion served me well for a decade. I was happy circulating my impassioned stories written with verve and a complete lack of grammar, between my circle of adoring friends.

With time, I began to ascribe far too much importance to gatekeepers like editors, grant and award givers, senior writers, etc. A recent string of rejections, each ranging from absurd to farcical to cringey to debilitating, led me to finally start a newsletter. To allow me to reach the people I really and vaguely know to see whether my writing sits with them without the filter of a journal, or an editor, or even the convenient facade of fiction.

Here, I create a space for you to pause. Life on the internet hurtles at you with the weight of a freight truck and here, I create a space to sit back and relax, kick your feet up and sink into the gooey warmth of my written scapes.

I hope you choose to stay as I plan to document this absurd journey we’re all collectively on in 2022 as the world catches fire (literally) and as a gentle reminder to return to community, love, safe spaces & stillness everytime shit gets bizarre beyond comprehension.
